April 25, (THEWILL) – It was a gathering of notable sons and daughters of Okigwe zone extraction, on Saturday, as traditional rulers, captains of industries, clergymen of sundry denominations, academia and political class, market women and other groups converged at Chief Tony Chukwu’s palatable hometown, Umueze 1, in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, for mind-robbing and endorsement of Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma.

In his speech at the ceremony, Chief Tony commended the Governor on his laudable achievements in Imo, saying Okigwe zone has benefitted hugely from his Recovery, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation (3R) administration.

“People of the six Local Governments Areas of the Zone – Okigwe, Onuimo, Isiala Mbano, Ehime Mbano, Obowo and Ihitte-Uboma – have all gained from the present government in the areas of appointment, roads construction and other projects,” he said.

The Traditional ruler of Ihim Autonomous Community and the Board Chairman, Benjamin Uwajumogu College of Education, Ihitte-Uboma, His Royal Majesty, Eze Dr. Oliver Ohanwe, thanked Chief Chukwu for hosting people of the area.

Eze Ohanwe described Uzodimma as a leader that has the interest of his people at heart, emphasising that the people of Okigwe would support him for a second time in office.

Speaking at the ceremony, a stakeholder from Obowo LGA, Dr. Eli Dibia, said the essence of the special session was also to interact with one another on how to harmonize the leadership of the Okigwe zone, as well as appreciate the Governor for not leaving the zone behind.

“It is necessary to always encourage our elected leaders at all times irrespective of political parties,” he stated.

Earlier in his speech, Chairman of the occasion, the retired Archbishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Lordship, Most Rt. Rev. Samuel Kanu Uche, said he accepted the chairmanship for the development of Okigwe zone.

He, therefore, called for continued unity of purpose and peaceful coexistence among people of the political unit.

Present at the ceremony were Okigwe zone Senator-elect, Engr Patrick Ndubueze; Former Imo Assembly Speaker, RT. Hon Kennedy Ibeh; Okigwe North Federal Constituency Lawmaker, Rt Hon Miriam Onuoha; Ray Offor, Dr Emma Mbanusi, Sir Chris Eboh, Dr Eli Dibia, Chief OK 2000, Barr Emeka Iwueze, RT Hon. Miriam Onuoha and Imo Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon Nduka.

Others include Lady Chinyere Irechukwu, Barr Ifeanyi Agwu, Chief Clement Igwe, Chief Marcel Ogwuegbu, James Azubuine, former Secretary of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Amb Eddy Onuoha, Chief Emma Ibediro, High Chief Tony Black Nduka, Hon Greg Owuamanam, Coordinators of Development Centres across Okigwe zone, Sole Administrators, former House members and ex Commissioners were all at the special session of Ndi Okigwe zone.
