March 09, (THEWILL) – Florence Otedola, also known as DJ Cuppy, has said that she is still underpaid, compared to her male counterparts.
The music act disclosed this in an interview excerpt she shared on her Instagram handle. She stated that women work twice as hard to get half as much done due to a system that does not favour them.
“Going to the male dominated space, you have to be strong and have a zeal. Women have to work twice as hard to get half as much done. Compared to my male counterparts, I’m still underpaid, undervalued.”
“And according to them, I have to have some aesthetic which I fight to this days. My advice is to be at peace with yourself because men in this industry will tell you are not good enough.”
“You have to be at peace with yourself and know that you’re enough. You will have a difficult time if you work for validation. Do what you love, understand your environment, and build on your strength.”
