Ilechukwu Guides Rangers To NPFL Triumph

June 17, (THEWILL)- Rangers International Football Club have been crowned champions of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. Their 2-0 victory over Bendel Insurance on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, coupled with losses suffered by title rivals Enyimba and Remo Stars, sealed the coveted championship.
The Flying Antelopes amassed an unassailable 67 points with one game remaining, four points clear of second-placed Remo Stars. Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, who had previously narrowly missed out on the title with MFM and Plateau United, finally achieved the ultimate prize, joining a rich history of managers to win the title in domestic football.
Enugu erupted in jubilation as fans packed the stadium, creating an electrifying atmosphere that propelled the team to victory. Goals from Agu Kenechkuwu and Chidebere Nwobodo in the 33rd and 60th minutes respectively highlighted Rangers’ skill and determination throughout the campaign.
This championship triumph marks a significant milestone for Rangers, solidifying their status as one of Nigeria’s local football forces. It is their eighth NPFL title and first since 2016 when they were led by Coach Imama Amapakabo to championship glory.
With their victory, Rangers have demonstrated exceptional ability and consistency, setting the stage for further success in Nigerian football.
