Ikechi Uko, the organizer of Akwaaba African Travel Market, the first international travel fair in West Africa has been appointed to head the Aviation Cargo Road Map Development Committee, an aviation cargo roadmap inaugurated by the federal government. The committee which was set up about a week ago has been tasked with a six-point agenda to address the challenges identified to be hindering the country’s capacity in processing enough cargo freighting at the nation’s airports.
Inaugurating the committee, the Managing director of FAAN, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, said the plan was to organize that aspect of the industry and move the country, currently at fifth to second by 2027. Considered one of the best to ever do it on this side of the divide when it comes to travel and tourism conferencing and events, Ikechi’s appointment has been applauded by many as putting a round peg in a round hole. A travel enthusiast, publisher of Africa Travel Quarterly Magazine and several others, Ikechi is a recipient of many awards and recognitions and has been appointed by successive governments both within and outside Nigeria, to head various arms of the travel, aviation and tourism industry to boost it for development, promotion and revenue generation.
