November 30, (THEWILL) – To improve health insurance policies, foremost charity organisation, the International Federation Of Health Plans (IFHP), in partnership with the International Health Insurance Forum (IHIF) recently hosted stakeholders in order to bridge the gap between decision-makers and their clients across African sub-regions.
The event provided access for the stakeholders to network across their countries as expert panels and special interest groups, brainstorming on market intelligence including news/opinions and industry reports.
So far, the non-profit organisation, with a network of 75 members, predominantly a private health insurance company, has adopted about 15 members spread across Africa.
Member Engagement Manager of IFHP, Nicola Jedrej, who spoke during the event: “IFHP Big Ideas Week Africa Workshop,” said that the panellists included representatives from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa.
“Every year, we do an in-person conference in South Africa for all the African members to attend and It is all about innovation,” Jedrej said.
Jedrej shared some innovative strategies, which the partners can adopt to successfully drive their business, adding that the experts’ session is capable of changing participants’ mindsets on areas such as customer value and service delivery.
“By bringing our members in Nigeria, other partners, and innovators to have the conversations in one day in the same room, we aim to bring our members together. We don’t actually take any revenue from this particular meeting at all. I felt very passionate about being inclusive and making sure our members in Nigeria had a chance to participate,” Jedrej stated.
Noting that it was indeed the speakers who benefitted and not IFHP, Jedrej said: “We know that our members all around the world are struggling with the same issues. Really, the forum is giving them a chance to think about it differently, being a safe and trusted environment where they can express what they are trying to achieve.
“The barriers may come up again but they would find partners or solutions or just different thinking to try and navigate those problems. So, the benefits are not to us, it’s to our members in the region, especially Nigeria.
“In Nigeria, we have Lead Way, and Ikoma Health Care Trust as members and we hope soon to have Life Work and AXA Mansard.”
The attendees included Mr. David Mba, Founder, Strategic Business Techspace; Dr Dorothy Jeff-Nnamani, Managing Director/CEO, Novo Health Africa; Dr Jean Kyula, Country Manager (Kenya), Helium Health; and Dr Niti Paul, Managing Director, Health 4 All Advisory Ltd.
Others are Jessica Chivinge, Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer, Vitality Health International; and Dr. Akhabue Esele, North Regional Manager, Clearline International Limited, Nigeria, among others.
