April 28, (THEWILL)- Politician and businessman, Hilary Obioma Ibegbulem, has bagged a doctorate in Business Management from Delta State University, Abraka.
His determination to excel academically may not be unconnected to his being born into a family where one of his parents was a teacher.
Having obtained his WAEC in 1988 at the famous Ika Grammar School, Boji Boji Owa in Delta State, he proceeded to acquire higher education at the Delta State University, Abraka, in 1992, and graduated with a Second Class lower division in Economics in 1997.
His academic pursuits further took him to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where he earned an MSc in Economics in 2004, a degree he acquired in the early part of his civil service career and later, in his quest for more knowledge, went back to school and earned a PhD in Business Management from Delta State University, Abraka, in 2023.
Not done with education as a holder of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Hilary, in further hunger for education and quest for knowledge, is currently studying Law at Baze University, Abuja.
Hilary’s professional career spans various roles, including Assistant Secretary II in the Delta State Government’s Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (2000), and Personal Assistant to the Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources Development and Health (2001-2006), respectively.
In 2007, Hilary took a leave of absence and joined active politics. He was Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State (2007- 2011), Senior Legislative Aide to the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District (2011-2015), and Principal Secretary to the Governor of Delta State (2015-2023).
Beyond his impressive academic and professional achievements, Hilary, as he’s widely known, is renowned for his philanthropic gestures, dedicating himself to supporting young people and the less privileged. His initiatives focused on education, healthcare, and community empowerment.
His leadership qualities are demonstrated in the various initiatives and tasks he has handled.
As the Principal Secretary, he demonstrated the ability to guide and inspire others, facilitate collaboration, and make informed decisions.
