BEVERLY HILLS, November 30, (THEWILL) – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, was on Monday queried for being absent at the ceremony of presentation and decoration of the minister of interior, Abdulrahman Bello Danbazau, and other service chiefs at the ministry of interior in Abuja, where they were decorated with the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem.
Gayya Micha, national chairman, Nigerian Legion, decorated the minister and other top officials of the ministry following Presidential directive that all ministers should be decorated with the emblem in their offices.
Dambazau expressed concerns over the continued absence of the IGP since he resumed office as the minister.
Arase’s absence shocked the minister, particularly as other service chiefs were present, except the commander general of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, who sent a representation.
The minister however said the Legion were so lucky “because police will pay three times the amount of money I will pay.”
The visiting national chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Micah Gaya, said the legion had a duty to support widows and children of the fallen heroes, saying the Legion was supporting its members who were in IDPs amps in the North East.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, which began on November 11, would be concluded on January 15, 2016, with wreath lying by the military and heads of the three arms of government – Executive, Legislature and Judiciary.
