September 27, (THEWILL) – Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, has said that he has not shifted grounds from sympathising with the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, over injustice meted on him from the party’s presidential primary that produced Atiku Abubakar, as the standard bearer.

“Politics is about interest and where your interest is not protected, you have a right to protest and I think that is what is happening. The party leadership has not been fair to Governor Wike, based on activities that took place during and after the convention.”

According to Governor Ortom, the party has not been able to deploy adequately the internal conflict mechanism to resolve those issues he has been raising.

“I sympathise with Wike and still stand with him that the leadership of the party at the national level do something. In politics nothing can be late, no matter how difficult it may seem if everybody brings down himself to the level to getting others who are aggrieved”.

Governor Ortom, who made the disclosure at a meeting with leaders of PDP in Benue North West, elected local government officials and party executives at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, on Tuesday, noted that they remain committed to PDP, saying he feels that the right thing should be done to put members together.

According to him, the campaign team as directed by the National Working Committee of the PDP has constituted and very soon after consultation, a date will be announced for inauguration.

“After due consultation with leaders in the seven local government, we are going to constitute a zone B Campaign Team for the Senate and what we agreed at the State level is that, this team will be integrated into the main campaign team, which I am the chairman with Dr Cletus Tyokaa, as Secretary.

He said the meeting also fashioned ways to educate and clear his stand on the issues rocking the party at the national level.

“In Benue State, we do not have any problem from bottom to top. We are good to go, as far as our party is concerned.
The BOT were here some few days ago and we deliberated on the matter they sought my opinion and my taught about the crisis.

“I told them the truth as far as I’m concerned and they took it with passion and also asked me for recommendations which I gave. That was done and I hoped that they will do justice to it so that our party will take over power in 2023.”

Governor Ortom pointed out that the headline from ThisDay newspaper that he has split with someone he just came back from London with (Wike) was misleading, saying they are friends and still maintain his stand on what he said earlier.
