Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, disclosed that she faced death threats in response to rumours about her pregnancy.
Tems ignited pregnancy rumours following her appearance at Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 London Fashion Week show. Adorned in a black dress with a purple fluffy coat and matching heels, speculation arose due to the way the dress subtly clung to her body.
In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, the Oscar-nominated diva shared that she received direct messages on social media, with inquiries questioning the involvement of American rapper, Nayvadius DeMun Cash, known professionally as Future, who was purportedly linked to her alleged pregnancy.
Tems clarified that she has never personally met the American rapper, despite their collaboration on the Grammy-winning song, ‘Wait For U’, alongside Canadian rapper and singer, Aubrey Drake Graham, known professionally as Drake.
She said: “When I heard that I was pregnant, I didn’t actually think anybody believed it. I didn’t know it was serious until I started getting messages like death threats, like, ‘How dare you? Of all the people in the world, Future, really?’ And I’ve never met him in my life. So it’s crazy.”
