I Never Said I Won’t Play For Nigeria – Emmanuel Dennis

December 05, (THEWILL) – Emmanuel Dennis, the red-hot Watford striker, has denied reports that he intends declining any offer to play for Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), which begins next month in Cameroon.

The 24-year-old was alleged to have informed officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that he is not ready to play for the Super Eagles at the continental football showpiece.

The forward, who is hogging the limelights in his first season in the exciting and highly competitive English Premier League, quickly debunked the report, insisting that he never told any reporter that he would not play for the Super Eagles.

The former Club Brugge striker said the allegation is false, adding that wagering the country’s famed green and white colours is a source of pleasure.

“This is fake news. Very false report. I never said such. It is a fabrication of the website and it is totally untrue,” he said.

Dennis reiterated his readiness to play for his country, and that it is terrible of anyone to concoct the allegation that he would refuse to serve his country.

Dennis is a prospect for a call-up to the Super Eagles squad for the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon next month. This month, he became the first Watford player since Troy Deeney in February 2017 to score in three Premier League matches in a row with his goal against Chelsea.

Dennis was named Watford’s November Player of the Month after a string of excellent performances in this campaign during which he has scored six goals and added five assists in 13 Premier League outings for the Hornets.
