July 22, (THEWILL) – Maryam Apaokagi Greene, professionally known as Taaooma, has revealed that she never planned to venture into comedy. Her only interest was in video editing, but later ended up making funny skits.
Speaking in a recent interview about her career, she added that she wasn’t social media savvy when she started out, but eventually found herself entertaining millions of people on the networking apps.
“I didn’t start out to become a comedian, so I wasn’t really looking up to anybody like that, Instagram was not my thing, Facebook was not my thing so I wasn’t in this space and I didn’t know anything about it.
“I only wanted to learn how to edit. So this comedy just came along the line for me so I didn’t really look up to anybody that much.”
Also giving her advice to other creatives, she said content creators should work at improving their crafts.
“Number one is you really have to do your stuff yourself. Secondly, invest in yourself, if you do, it’s going to be very easy. You don’t have to do a lot of editing. If you use your good light and good microphone, all you have to do is put the thing on your timeline, you don’t have to start adjusting colour or whatever”, she noted.
