March 22, (THEWILL) – Anambra State governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, on Tuesday revealed the debt left behind by the immediate past governor of the state, Willie Obiano.
Soludo, while speaking on Arise TV, said his predecessor left ₦300 million cash and a debt of over ₦400 billion as of December 2021.
The former Central Bank Governor further stated that other financial details from January to date are not available.
He, however, noted that the details will be made available as soon as possible because they’re public documents.
Earlier, THEWILL had reported that former governor, Willie Obiano, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) last Saturday night at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
Obiano was reportedly on his way to the United States of America after handing over to Soludo.
The anti-graft agency subsequently transferred Obiano to the headquarters of the commission, where he was quizzed for days over alleged mismanagement of N42bn and inflated contract.
The former governor, though granted bail, has yet to perfect his bail conditions.
