February 06, (THEWILL) – Nigerian fast-rising singer, Ololade Ahmed, aka Asake, has revealed how he got signed to Olamide Adedeji’s record label.

The singer spoke about it in a recent interview. According to him, getting signed up into the Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL) music label took a while.

He pestered the YBNL music executive for two years before he got the chance to prove himself.

Asake had to send a studio recording of his breakout song ‘Omo Ope’ to the music entrepreneur before he received an invitation from Olamide.

“I have been texting Olamide since 2020, Baba please help me, you have helped a lot of my friends. You know, Fireboy was with him.

“I continued to disturb him, but the funniest thing is that he didn’t reply at all. After I dropped the song, ‘Omo Ope’, I sent it to him and he texted me one morning, ‘Asake we need to see oo’.

“I started checking the cloth to wear and was asking myself, ‘ will Olamide like this one’?

“When I went to him, he just said it like it is nothing to him, he asked ‘will you like to join the family?’

“You don’t understand, for a street boy who did not know what’s going on, he asked me again, ‘will you like to join the YBNL family

“I was like, does this man want to kill me? I just said yes. He gave me the contract paper and asked me to go home to read it.

“I told him that I don’t want to read anything because I was tired of waiting for his response. But he insisted that I should go home and read it.”
