House Of Reps Delegation Visits Maiduguri, Donates N100m To Flood Victims

September 18, (THEWILL) – A delegation of the House of Representatives, on Tuesday, visited Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to sympathise and commiserate with the Government and people of the state over the recent flood disaster that ravaged the area.

Led by the Chairman of the Northern Regional Caucus, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the delegation, on behalf of the Speaker of the House, Tajuddeen Abbas, and the entire members of the legislature, donated the sum of N100 million to assist the victims.

Doguwa, who disclosed this in a statement signed and released to newsmen in Kano on Wednesday, commended President Bola Tinubu for his “prompt and swift response” to the plight of the people of Borno State and pledging the Federal Government’s support to the State Government and the victims.

“We also pledged the National Assembly’s readiness to liaise with the Federal Government to come up with a legislative framework or any possible budgetary intervention to help state governments to address the impact of flood disaster in the country,” he said.

Doguwa also stated that while in Maiduguri, the delegation visited the Shehu of Borno at his palace where it condoled him over the loss of lives recorded during the disaster.
