November 08, (THEWILL) – Hilda Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has removed the title of world record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual from her bio on X.
This development comes hours after the Guinness World Record announced an Irish chef, Alan Fisher, as the latest world record holder for the title on Tuesday, November 7.
The Guinness World Records, on their X account on Tuesday, sharing the news said, ‘Nigerian cooking queen, Hilda Baci, has been dethroned.’
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Hilda Baci wrote, “Just as Chef Lata respectfully acknowledged the new record holder by updating her bio and later fine-tuning the wording, I’ve adjusted mine too.
“Achieving such a record is no small feat, and I know this firsthand. I have only the greatest admiration for the hard work it took for Alan to reach such heights.
“Sportsmanship is about recognizing progress, whether the accolade is in my bio or not. I remain a record-holder in spirit and in history. Let’s celebrate achievement and the spirit of competition.
“I’m so happy to have held a record so prestigious and profound that I will forever be honoured and grateful for all the love and support.”
The Guinness World Records disclosed that Fisher from Ireland cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes at his restaurant in Japan, surpassing the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci by over 24 hours
Fisher is based in Japan and has already broken two Guinness World Records related to cooking.
Alan secured the title for the longest cooking marathon (individual), setting a new record with an astonishing time of 119 hours and 57 minutes.
In addition to this, Alan also claimed the title for the longest baking marathon (individual), clocking in at 47 hours and 21 minutes, surpassing the previous record held by Wendy Sandner from the USA, who had a time of 31 hours and 16 minutes.
Alan took on both challenges consecutively, spending over 160 hours in the kitchen with just a little over a day of rest in between the two record-breaking attempts.
Meanwhile, Hilda Baci, on her X page has congratulated him.
She wrote, “Huge congratulations to Alan Fisher! 119hrs 57mins is a huge achievement, and I wish him all the best as the new world record holder.”
