September 28, (THEWILL) – Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has disowned DJ Splash, insisting that he was never signed to his record label.
He claims DJ Splash was only an acquaintance and not the label’s official Disc Jockey.
Marley has been facing a wave of backlashes and allegations since the death of Mohbad, his former label signee.
The investigation into Mohbad’s death has also raised questions about DJ Splash, a purported associate of Marlian Music.
In a viral audio, DJ Splash’s mother alleged that Naira Marley had invited her son to live with him and promised to cover his educational expenses.
She added that Marley eventually failed DJ Splash and alleged that since leaving his house, her son has been mentally unstable.
Naira Marley said that people had wrongly assumed DJ Splash’s role based on a photograph of them together.
He added that the DJ was not at his house when he started battling challenges. He also described the allegations as lies.
“DJ Splash was never signed to Marlian Music. I know him as a DJ, but he has never deejayed with me at shows or anything, it is not like he is my DJ. They just gave him the title because I have a picture with him.
“When whatever happened to him, he was not at my house, and I do not understand where all this is coming from. DJ Splash, DJ whatever, I do not understand where it is coming from, that is all lies, they are just bringing out people from nowhere to tell lies,” he said.
Naira Marley said he plans to return to Nigeria to assist in the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death. He also maintained that he had no involvement in Mohbad’s demise and had no reason to be a fugitive.
