November 16, (THEWILL) – The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has responded to claims that veteran actor, Hanks Anuku, needs help, as he is undergoing a mental health challenge.
A video surfaced online, which captured Anuku in unclean clothes roaming around the street on Monday.
Many expressed concern about his mental health, but his colleague, Shan George, debunked speculations of such and stated that he was on set a few days before the video went viral. She backed up her claims with pictures of the actor on set.
In a chat with Premium Times, Rollas revealed that he cannot say much about the actor, as his whereabouts need to be confirmed. He added that he has contacted members of the guild who are trying to ascertain the authenticity of the viral video.
“There is nothing I can say from the official point of view, but I have sent out the guild chairman of Edo and Delta State first to locate where he is, whether he is filming and all that.
“It’s only when we get that information then we can say, something official. For now, we have no information. Nobody seems to know where he is. I believe it is not something serious”, he stated.
He also confirmed that Anuku was on set with Shan George. He also warned those who use such opportunities to chase clout to stop the act.
He added that the guild has a trust fund for such situations and has disbursed over N6 million to members in need.
