May 26, (THEWILL) – The traditional ruler of Orsu Obodo in Oguta Local Government Area of the State, HRH Eze Victor Ijioma, has been killed on Thursday, by gunmen.
Also killed, was a traditional prime minister of Mgbele Community.
Sources in Obodo said Eze Ijioma was intercepted by the gunmen around Umuamaka Junction in Izombe town on Thursday afternoon, where he was killed and his corpse set ablaze inside his car.
Similarly, the Mgbele Traditional Prime minister, whose names could not be confirmed was said to have been killed in his town in same Oguta council area.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident.
Okoye said the Imo State Police boss, CP Muhamned Amed Barde, has set up a high power investigative team to fish out the perpetrators.
CP Barde, who condemned what he described as the gruesome murder of the Traditional ruler and the Traditional Prime Minister of the two communities, commiserated with the bereaved families and prayed God give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
