Gunmen Attack Kogi Church, Kill 2 Worshippers

October 17, (THEWILL) – At least two worshippers were killed and three others injured during an attack on a branch of the Celestial Church of Christ located behind the NNPC Mega Petrol Filling Station in the Felele area of Lokoja, Kogi State.

The suspected terrorist attack occurred on Sunday.

The spokesperson of the Kogi State Police Command, William Aya, confirmed in a statement issued on Monday that the injured persons are currently receiving medical treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.

According to the statement, “It was a distress call that the Divisional Police Officer of B Division Felele received, that hoodlums invaded a Celestial Church behind NNPC mega station and began shooting.

“Two people were confirmed dead in the hospital, while three are receiving treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police has deployed our operatives and ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the investigation, to commence an investigation to unravel the cause of the attack, with a view to arresting the perpetrators.”
