Lower finance costs boost earnings

A major contributor to the stronger bottom line was the reduction in finance expenses, which declined by 61.9 percent to ₦5.83bn from ₦15.30bn in the corresponding period last year.

The lower financing burden helped profit before tax grow faster than operating profit, improving the company’s overall earnings performance.

Earnings per share rose to 1,858 kobo from 1,214 kobo, reflecting the increase in profit attributable to shareholders.

This brings total interim dividends declared for the financial year to ₦16 per share, comprising ₦2 declared after the first quarter and ₦7 each after the second and third quarters.

The latest declaration signals the board’s willingness to return more cash to shareholders as earnings improve.

Board Chairman, Prof. Fabian Ajogwu, SAN, said the results reflected progress in strengthening the company’s financial performance and building a more resilient business.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Girish Sharma said revenue growth, higher operating earnings, and lower finance costs supported profitability, adding that the company remained focused on operational efficiency and sustainable growth.
