August 08, (THEWILL) – In a surprise turn of events, veteran defender, Kyle Walker, appears to have decided to remain at Manchester City instead of joining Bayern Munich.
The 33-year-old England international had verbally agreed to a move to the serial German champions last month after entering talks in June. However, no transfer fee had been finalised. Following discussions with City manager, Pep Guardiola, Walker has now chosen to stay at the Etihad Stadium.
Walker is considering a new contract offer from City that surpasses Bayern’s proposal. The English Premier League winners are keen to retain the experience and versatility he provides in defence. Walker started 31 games last season but was left out of the start of the UEFA Champions League final, coming on only as a late substitute.

With City already without the expertise of a regular starter like Ilkay Gundogan and a dynamic winger like Riyad Mahrez this summer, keeping Walker provides stability and depth. It remains to be seen whether he will accept the club’s updated contract offer and take his chances at the Etihad or move to the Bundesliga. Confirmation is expected soon.
