November 06, (THEWILL) – Umbrella body of Ijaw Youths worldwide, the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the appointment of Engr. Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, as the Acting Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Engr. Audu-Ohwavborua, from Delta State, was appointed Acting MD after the sack of Effiong Akwa, as the sole administrator of NDDC.
According to the IYC, the appointment of Engr. Ohwavborua, is preparatory to the impending constitution of a substantive board for the Commission, following the submission of a list of nominees to the National Assembly.
The IYC, in a statement issued in Yenagoa and signed by its National Spokesman, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe, assured Engr Audu-Ohwavborua of its support as he prepares grounds for the coming on board of a substantive leadership at the commission.
The group called on President Muhammadu Buhari to be sincere and not delay in constituting the NDDC board.
“We welcome the appointment of Engr. Dr Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, and we commend President Buhari for the timely show of commitment to the prayers of the people of the Niger Delta region.
“The Acting MD has been part of the Commission’s system and knows the needs and challenges of the youths of the region. He is a round peg in a round hole”, it added.
