Group Demands Release Of Abducted Ijaw Youth President

BEVERLY HILLS, May 26, (THEWILL) – The Niger Delta Activist Group (NDAG) has described as unfortunate and sad the kidnapping of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) President, Comrade Peter Igbifa, along the East-West road on Tuesday.

The National Coordinator of NDAG and the Regional Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Strategic Communication, Chief Izzi Yakia, in a chat with newsmen, in Yenagoa, condemned the act in its entirety.

Yakia used the opportunity to plead with the youth to launch a search party for the leader.

He said, “It is so sad and very unfortunate, Comrade Peter Igbifa is my good friend, a Comrade in the struggle, and so sad that he was kidnapped.

“I was so shocked because I know his advocacy, and position in the Ijaw struggle. Indeed, he has a sincere personality.

“But the truth is that it is a national security issue. IYC is a global, trans-regional organisation that stands for the Ijaw youths and Ijaw people.

“The case is a call for concern. But it is unfortunate that the State Security Service and Nigeria Police Force have not come out to tell us the true position.

“So Ijaw youths should go and look for their leader, it is very sad that today we are looking for our leader.”
