October 15, (THEWILL) – Mason Greenwood, a forward for Manchester United, is now in custody and police are looking into allegations that he violated the conditions of his bail.
Greenwood was arrested on Saturday, at his house in Bowdon, Greater Manchester, with a statement from the Greater Manchester Police claiming that they were “aware of an allegation regarding a 21-year-old man breaching his bail conditions and an arrest has been made on Saturday.”
The former England international was first detained in January on rape and assault suspicions, as THEWILL reported at the time. He was also detained on suspicion of making murderous threats, but no charges have been filed. His bail was extended in June.
United swiftly suspended the forward till further notice at the beginning of the year in response to the allegations. Further repercussions followed as his inclusion in the FIFA video game from EA Sports was revoked, and Nike withdrew their sponsorship of him.
Before his suspension, Greenwood, who came up through Old Trafford’s youth programme, made 129 appearances for the first team, scoring 35 goals.
