June 30, (THEWILL) – Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked the convoy of Kano State’s Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The convoy was attacked on Tuesday while returning to Kano from a political rally in Zamfara State.
Ganduje had gone to the state to join other governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the leadership of the party to officially receive the Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad Mattawale who recently defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
A security source, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that three security personnel attached to the Governor’s convoy sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, confirmed the development.
Garba, who disclosed that slight injuries were recorded, however, insisted the Ganduje was not in the convoy.
