July 21, (THEWILL) – Former world number one and golf icon, Ernie Els, has publicly criticised the PGA Tour board for their recent decision to merge commercial operations with the Saudi-backed LIV Series.
Speaking at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club during the British Open, Els did not hide his discontent with the lack of player input in the decision-making process. He called the handling of the merger an “absolute shambles” and voiced his concerns about the impact on players’ lives and the professional game.

“I’m sorry, it’s not right. Talk to us, tell us what you’re going to do, plan on negotiating,” Els said, urging the PGA Tour board to engage players in the decision-making process.
