… Ese Brume Wins Gold too In Women’s Long Jump
BEVERLY HILLS, July 31, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s female sprint star Blessing Okagbare has completed a double at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland by winning a second gold medal in the women’s 200m final, returning in 22.25 seconds.
The 25-year-old athlete from Delta State, Nigeria’s Niger Delta region, who set a Commonwealth Games record in the 100m finals on Monday, beat the British duo of Jodie Williams (22.50) and Bianca Williams (22.85) to the second and third spots respectively, to keep her bid alive for a Commonwealth treble in the women’s 4×100 relay. Another English woman, Anyika Onuora of Nigerian descent finished fourth.
Also, Nigeria’s Ese Brume won the gold in the women’s Long Jump finals ahead of Britain’s Jazmin Sawyers.
