August 10, (THEWILL) – Generator fumes have killed a family of six, a woman and her three children including two other members of the family, at Ofoji Street, Isi Obehie in Ukwa West local government area of Abia state.
The incident saw the death of the woman, all her three children, her sister and brother-in-law, whose names could not be identified at the time of going to print. The discovery of the dead bodies made neighbours cry uncontrollably.
THEWILL gathered from a source that the incident happened last Wednesday, the family while going to bed, left their generator on with the windows open, resulting in fumes coming into the apartment.
According to sources, the only survivor in the family of seven was their father, who was said to be away when the incident happened.
The source further revealed that five of the family members died on the spot, while the younger sister to the mother of three, who was found unconscious at the time neighbours became aware of the unfortunate incident, was said to have later died in the hospital.
The family was said to have come from Isiala Ngwa North local government area of the state, and reside within the community.
Abia Command Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, when contacted confirmed the incident. Adding that investigation is ongoing to discover the cause of their demise.
