Ganduje Formally Shrinks Sanusi’s Influence In Kano, Signs Bill Establishing Four Emirates

SAN FRANCISCO, May 8, (THEWILL) – Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has approved the bill passed Wednesday by the Kano State House of Assembly seeking the establishment of four additional first class Emirates in Kano State and in turn limiting the influence of the controversial Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 14th Emir of the Kano.

The four additional first class Emirates, which decentralizes the Kano Emirate Council, will be situated in Rano, Gaya, Karaya and Bichi.

This follows the approval of the amendment of the local government and chieftaincy affairs law by the lawmakers, during their sitting.

THEWILL can report that Sanusi’s disagreement with Ganduje heightened during the last governorship election in the state where the traditional ruler backed the candidate of the main opposition party against the incumbent.
