June 26, (THEWILL) – Galatasaray, the reigning champions of the Turkish Super Lig, are eyeing a potential move for Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old Leicester City forward has been added to Galatasaray’s Wishlist, with arch-rivals, Besiktas, also rumoured to have made an offer for his services. Despite currently negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain for Mauro Icardi’s permanent signing, Galatasaray remain determined to pursue Iheanacho.
Iheanacho, who is open to leaving Leicester City, following their recent relegation from the English Premier League, may find the prospect of joining a team competing in the prestigious UEFA Champions League next season appealing. However, it should be noted that his contract with Leicester is set to expire in 2024. Valued at €18 million, Galatasaray may consider a loan deal to secure the talented striker, as his price tag could prove to be too steep.
Additionally, the Turkish club would need to take into account Iheanacho’s annual salary of €4.5m. Throughout his career, Iheanacho has showcased his abilities, accumulating an impressive record of 81 goals and 45 assists in 279 games. Last season, he netted five goals and provided five assists in 28 appearances for Leicester, earning him the club’s coveted Player of the Season award.
