Fury Calls Off Expected Bout Against Joshua After Deadline Expires

September 27, (THEWILL) – The heavyweight bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has been declared “officially over” by Fury.

There were rumours that the eagerly anticipated all-British fight will finally occur in December. However, Fury has announced the fight will no longer take place after giving Joshua until 5 pm on Monday, September 26, to sign the contract.

The 34-year-old took to Instagram to say, “It’s official, D Day has come and gone. It’s gone past five on Monday and no contract has been signed. It’s officially over for Joshua, he is now out in the cold with the wolfpack, forget about it. Idiot, coward, bodybuilder, always knew it.

“Always knew you didn’t have the minerals to fight the Gypsy King. Regardless of what you say now I don’t care. Good luck with your career and your life, end of.”

Fury might instead face 37-year-old Mahmoud Charr, whose career record is 37-4, as his next opponent if he sticks to his decision to not take on Joshua.

Before Fury offered Joshua the chance as an opponent, Charr had been touted as a possible opponent. It appears that a bout with Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated Joshua in his most recent fight, will have to wait until the following year.
