July 26, (THEWILL) – Fulham have successfully acquired the services of Mexican striker, Raul Jimenez, from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a reported fee of approximately £5 million.
The 32-year-old forward has inked a contract with The Cottagers that extends until the summer of 2025, with an option for the club to extend it for another year. Speaking about the move, Jimenez said: “It’s really important for me to arrive here. I will try to do my best for the team, one of the most iconic teams in the Premier League. I’m happy to be here and to play in this stadium, it’s a really good stadium, I like it here. I’m going to give my best to keep scoring goals in the Premier League.”
During his initial loan spell in 2018, Raul Jimenez joined Wolves and made the move permanent for £30 million after a commendable season where he scored 17 goals, contributing significantly to the club’s FA Cup semi-final run and securing a seventh-place finish in the English Premier League. However, his career trajectory took an unfortunate turn when he suffered a fractured skull in a match against Arsenal in November 2020.
Subsequently, Jimenez’s goal-scoring output declined, netting just six EPL goals and remaining scoreless in 15 league games last season. Despite these challenges, Fulham see him as a direct replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is attracting interest from Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.
While the Serbia international’s future remains uncertain, Manager Marco Silva addressed it saying: “It is not the ideal scenario, not because he received an offer. It is all the situation about himself… He is not working properly with his teammates, and when I say it is not the ideal scenario, this is the situation.” With Jimenez’s arrival, Fulham have bolstered their attacking options and are ready to make a strong statement in the upcoming EPL season.
