September 17, (THEWILL) – Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has suspended Barrister Otonye Briggs as Chairman of the Akuku-Toru Local Government Caretaker Committee (CTC), effective immediately.

The Governor, in a statement signed on Tuesday, by his chief press secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, directed Hon. Bitebobo Nelson Amieye, to take over the affairs of the council.

He ordered Briggs to hand over all council properties in his possession to the new C.T.C. chairman.

Although no reason has been provided for the development, THEWILL, however, gathered that it may not be unconnected to the recent violence that rocked Abuloma Community, where four Youths were reportedly killed and a bus burnt, following heavy shooting at the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Eastern Zone election in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
