Friendly: Lautaro Saves Inter in Comeback 4-2 Win Over Egnatia

August 13, (THEWILL) – Italian giants, Inter Milan, ended their pre-season preparations with a dramatic comeback win against Albanian side, Egnatia, on Sunday.

Despite initially going behind early on, Inter turned the game around in the final minutes to claim a 4-2 victory. Simeone Inzaghi’s charges were stunned in the opening minutes when an Egnatia counter-attack led to Raphael Dwamena giving the Albanians a shock 1-0 lead. Inter responded well and dominated possession, creating numerous chances through new signing Marcus Thuram and star striker Lautaro Martinez.

However, a combination of wayward finishing and fine goalkeeping from Sherri kept Inter off the scoreboard in the first half. The second half saw Inter continue their pressure as they searched for an equaliser. It finally paid off when Barella unleashed a superb long-range strike in the 63rd minute to make it 1-1. But, Egnatia retook the lead minutes later after a controversial penalty call saw Fernando Medeiros convert from the spot.

As the game entered its final stages, Inter mounted an emphatic fightback. Lautaro Martinez scored twice in quick succession, first latching onto a Valentino Lazaro cross before converting a contentious penalty to give Inter a 3-2 advantage. The comeback was complete when substitute Joaquin Correa set up Giacomo Stabile to seal the 4-2 victory.

The dramatic turnaround will give Inter confidence heading into the new season, with coach Inzaghi praising his team’s character. Summer signings Yann Sommer, Thuram and Davide Frattesi all made their debuts, with the latter duo showing promise despite the team’s shaky start. Inter will be eager to build on this performance when Serie A begins next weekend.
