Friendly: Barcelona In 3-0 Win Against Real Madrid In Pre-Season El Clasico

July 30, (THEWILL) – In a friendly rehash of the renowned El Clasico between two of La Liga’s football juggernauts in the United States, Barcelona emerged victorious with a convincing 3-0 win against Real Madrid in Dallas.

Both teams, managed by Carlo Ancelotti and Xavi Hernandez, respectively, fielded strong lineups for the match. Barcelona started brightly and came close to opening the scoring early on when Oriol Romeu’s powerful volley struck the crossbar. However, they soon took the lead through Ousmane Dembele, who benefitted from a well-executed free-kick routine between Ilkay Gundogan and Pedri.

Real Madrid responded with a series of near misses, including a penalty awarded to Vinicius Junior, which hit the crossbar. They also struck the woodwork twice in quick succession. The match was fiercely contested, resulting in several robust tackles from both sides. Despite some players suffering knocks, including Gundogan and Andreas Christensen, the injuries were not believed to be serious.

Ferland Mendy, however, was substituted due to a suspected hamstring injury. Still, Barcelona maintained their momentum and increased their lead late in the game. Youngster Fermin Lopez impressed with a brilliant effort to score the second goal. In the dying moments of the match, Ferran Torres sealed the deal with a third goal after being set up by Lopez.

This victory showed cohesion within the ranks of the Spanish top-flight champions while demonstrating that there is a lot of work for Carlo Ancelotti to do to bring his team into their traditional dogged and determined character before the hostilities of the 2023/2024 campaign kick-off.
