BEVERLY HILLS, April 13, (THEWILL) – Kylie Jenner, Zendaya Coleman, Ellie Goulding, Hailey Baldwin and Gugu Mbatha-Raw are the cover girls for Marie Claire magazine’s Fresh Faces issue.
18-year-old Kylie, who is widely recognized as a trendsetter in fashion and beauty told the magazine just how much influence and power she wields: “I started wigs, and now everyone is wearing wigs. Kim [Kardashian] just used my wig guy last night…I just do whatever I want to do, and people will follow.”
And despite what it looks like, the reality star admits she’s not always comfortable with posting sexy photos of her on social media: “When I post sexy photos, I always regret it. Like,Oh my God, everyone is seeing my body.I get really weird about it.”
Disney star, Zendaya opened up to the publication on the reason she returned to Disney. “A big reason why I wanted to come back to Disney is because I saw a lack of diversity on the channel. To see a black family, to see a young girl with these adorable Afro puffs…little things like that are so important.”
On attending the Grammys after-party with her dad and Odell Beckham Jr. she said, “If a guy can handle my dad the first time, then he’s worth giving my time to. If he can’t, then I might as well not waste my time. Just because they’re in the NFL doesn’t mean they get a pass.”
29-year-old singer, Ellie who looked dreamy on her cover told the magazine she doesn’t feel like she’s a star: “I don’t feel like I’m a very good pop star. I can be painfully shy, and I don’t really talk much between songs. I don’t feel like I’m a natural performer.”
Model Hailey Baldwin shared what it’s like dating Justin Bieber: “I don’t want attention out of dating somebody. Texts started coming through, crazy phone calls…it’s hard to date somebody in this industry. You have to have really thick skin and be very strong. You have to focus on the person and nothing else.”
Actress Gugu called Will & Jada Pinkett Smith brave for speaking out against lack of diversity at the Oscars: “[They took] A very brave stand.” But she points out, “That’s the end of the race. The root of it is about having many, many stories told and having the people who hold he purse strings tell diverse and inclusive stories. It’s got to go back to how films get green-lit in the first place.”
She also revealed why she isn’t a very big fan of the spotlight and social media rave: “Call me old-fashioned, but if there were ever a massive volcanic eruption like there was in Pompeii and, hundreds of years later, people looked at us as a species with our selfie sticks, they would think,God were we the most narcissistic culture ever?”
