Frenzy As Manny Pacquiao Returns To The Ring Against Errol Spence

BEVERLY HILLS, May 22, (THEWILL) – In an exciting promise of boxing delight for fans to look forward to, one of the greatest professional boxers of all time, Emmanuel “Manny” Dapidran Pacquiao, has revealed that he is returning to the ring after a two-year absence.

On August 21, Pacquiao will lace up
his gloves again and get into the ring to square off against American Errol Spence Jr., the unified welterweight world champion, in Las Vegas. Spence’s deceptive appearance masks the fact that he is one of the top-ranked welterweights and a terrific boxer.

Pacquiao’s tweet confirms all the rumours that had been making the rounds that the present day Filipino politician was itching for another day in the ring, and was actually getting back into action.

An earlier agreement for Pacquiao to contend against Terence Crawford in a June 5 Abu Dhabi bout, which was confirmed last month by Rank CEO Bob Arum, fell apart because the deadline to get the money involved ready was missed by those responsible for putting the money up.

Arum explained it in his own words when he said: “Look, what happened to us in Abu Dhabi was we had signed contracts and everything and they were supposed to put up the money. Well, I’ve been waiting two weeks for the money. Nobody put up the money after promising they would.”

Boxing fans and Pacquiao’s followers will mark Saturday, August 21 on their calendars as the day approaches for the PacMan to get to fight again after his last first in July 2019, when he won the WBA welterweight title in a split decision victory over Keith Thurman.

The 42-year-old, who is presently serving as a Senator of the Philippines and as party president of the PDP–Laban party, has won three straight bouts since a controversial loss to Jeff Horn on July 2, 2017.

Spence, who has an unimpeachable 27-0 boxing record, most recently beat Danny Garcia by unanimous decision to retain the WBC and IBF welterweight titles on Saturday, December 5. Nicknamed “The Truth”, the American is regarded as the best 147-pound fighter in the sport and arguably the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world at the moment.

These attributes of both fighters make for a mouthwatering and unmissable bout of boxing excitement and thrill. It will be one for the ages, especially with a boxer of Pacquiao’s pedigree.
