‘Four Years In Varsity Is Nothing’ — Bella Shmurda Replies LASU

January 31, (THEWILL) – Fast-rising afrobeat singer, Bella Shmurda, has replied to the Lagos State University (LASU), following their call for him to return and complete his abandoned undergraduate degree.

A couple of days ago, the singer tweeted that he does not regret quitting school to pursue his music career.

Shmurda also asserted that, if he had not dropped out, he would have been broke and struggling with “carryovers”.

“Thank God I was stubborn and I never got to pass those exams then,” he had written.

In reaction to the tweet, the school applauded his feat so far and urged him to return and continue his education.

“Glad you have come this far pursuing your dream. Also glad @LASUOfficial played a part in your beautiful story because universities don’t make people rich, only incubate them to find and achieve purpose,” LASU had tweeted.

“BTW, please come back to class and earn your degree.”

Responding to LASU on Sunday, Shmurda expressed that school meant nothing to him.

He further affirmed that he would rather chase after money as the economy is starving.

“Now playing: Four years in @LASUofficial is really nothing. Better get that money. The economy is starving,” he wrote.

Shmurda rose to prominence after his debut single ‘Vision 2020’ and a follow-up (remix) to the song in which he featured Olamide.

He also released several hit songs in 2020, one of which is ‘Cash App’ featuring Zlatan.

In 2020, Shmurda won the awards ‘Next Rated Male’ and ‘Street Music of the Year’ categories at the City People Entertainment Awards. He was also nominated for the ‘Revelation of the Year’ award in the same year.

In 2021, Shmurda was nominated for the highly-coveted ‘Next Rated’ gong at the Headies Awards.
