March 01, (THEWILL) – The AtikuKawai Media Group has held the South-West edition of the town hall meeting to discuss the prospects of 2023 presidential aspirant and ex-vice president, His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar and the need for a visionary and people-first leader in 2023.

The South-West edition, themed; ‘In Search of A Leader: Nigeria First’, further discussed the attributes to look out for in a leader for 2023. Present at the event was, Spokesperson to ex-vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Segun Sowunmi, Professor Anthony Kila, Convener, Lagos for Lagos, Dr Olajide Adediran, delegates from Chief Raymond Dokpesi and a host of discussants and participants.

Welcoming delegates from all over the country to the event, the Chief Strategist, AtikuKawai Media Group, and the Chairman, Atiku Abubakar Town Hall Meetings, Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, urged participants to be on the lookout for the real attributes that makes a leader and to shun the jamborees that come with elections.

“The very essence of leadership is that you must have a vision – the vision to make life better for all.”

He noted that oftentimes, we discuss leadership through the scope of just one figure, be it the President, Governor or someone occupying an exalted position.

However, the essence of true leadership is about striving to become better in all areas of life and empowering everyone around you to become the best versions of themselves.

According to the Chief Strategist, “In a few months, the usual jamboree and noise will begin and everyone will be fixated on who becomes the next president, abandoning all other levels of government and authority. Today, we are here to discuss true leadership and the attributes to look out for in a leader on all levels, come 2023.”

He added that he believes that the ‘leadership figure’ hasn’t been much of the problem in Nigeria, but the ‘what’ and ‘how’ ideas and policies are to be deplored for development.

Further, he emphasised that the Atiku Abubakar Townhall meetings forum is not about one man, but about a united country for all to thrive and blossom.

According to the first guest speaker at the event, Prof Anthony Kila, “Nigeria needs a leader, who will represent the people regardless of gender, tribe and religion.”

The second guest speaker, Segun Sowunmi, stated that Nigeria needs a leader with empathy and that he can assure that presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, has it. He added that if Atiku wasn’t empathetic, he wouldn’t have released his votes to M.K.O Abiola in 1993 and as such, there wouldn’t have been any narrative of June 12 as it would have been dead on arrival.

In his words, “an empathetic leader does not only see things in his own way, but from other people’s point of view too.”

Similarly, the convener of the G4G movement, Prince Wale Gomez, stated that 2023 is going to be ‘fire for fire’. According to him, Nigerians deserve better and in 2023, he, Gomez, will support any candidate that PDP presents in 2023.

Meanwhile, the Atiku Abubakar Townhall meeting, has been previously held in Kano for the North-West geo-political Zone and Enugu for the South-East.

The South-West edition was held at Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan lagos.
