SAN FRANCISCO, December 15, (THEWILL) – A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, and ex-Secretary to the defunct Armed Forces Ruling Council, Alhaji Gidado Idris, GCON, 82, is dead.
The octogenarian died in Abuja late Friday night after a brief ailment.
President Muhammadu Buhari in an emailed statement to THEWILL, described his passing as “a big loss to the nation.”
The President said: “Being a highly experienced and quintessential technocrat who traversed the different stages of the political evolution of the country, his wise counsel will surely be missed.”
Idris, who is father of United Kingdom-based Nigerian recording artiste, Aminu, was buried in Abuja Saturday after funeral rites at the National Mosque in the capital city.
