SAN FRANCISCO, August 12, (THEWILL) – A former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State, Hon. Kolo Bukar and the former minority leader of the House of Representatives (1999-2003), Hon. Mohammed Kumaila, Wednesday, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with scores of their supporters at a ceremony in Maiduguri, the state capital.

The former minority leader of the House of Representatives, Kumaila, was a member of the All People’s Party (APP), which later metamorphosed into All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

Kumaila was the gubernatorial candidate of Action Congress (AC) in the 2007 general elections but later joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he was a gubernatorial aspirant in 2011. He was the Northeast campaign coordinator of President Goodluck Jonathan during the last general elections.

Others who defected along with him include the former national treasurer of the PDP, Alhaji Lawan Kareto, former PDP House of Reps member, Hajia Kaamuna Khadi, and former PDP House of Reps candidate in the last elections, Honourable Muhammed Adamu amongst others.

Welcoming the defectors at the National Secretariat of the APC were the APC national deputy chairman, North, Alhaji Lawan Shaibu and the party’s National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni as well as the state chairman of APC, Ali Bukar Dalori.
