February 02, (THEWILL) – Ladan Bosso, Head Coach of the Flying Eagles, has announced a 30-man provisional squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with only three foreign-based players making the cut.

Michael Ologo from İstanbulspor, Abel Ogwuche from Trelleborgs FF and Beji Muhammed from FC Cartagena have been included in the squad. Bosso intends to reduce the number of players in camp to 25 within the next five days before naming the final 21-man roster.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is working to arrange more friendlies for the team before their opening match of the 2023 U-20 AFCON. They are currently in talks to play against Central African Republic, Gambia, Benin Republic and one other African country during the team’s training camp in Morocco.

Nigeria, the seven-time African champions, will face Egypt, Mozambique and Senegal in Group A of the U-20 AFCON. The NFF is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the Flying Eagles are in top form for the tournament. With the provisional squad selected, preparations for the tournament are now in full swing.

The Flying Eagles will fly out to Morocco on February 8 for the second phase of their preparations for the tournament in Egypt.
