First Suspected Ebola Case In Kaduna As Teenager Shows Ebola-like Symptoms

BEVERLY HILLS, September 02, (THEWILL) – A teenage boy has been hospitalized at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, Kaduna State, after showing Ebola-like symptoms Tuesday.

The 19-year-old, a student of the Ahmadu Bello University had been admitted at the hospital for about week but started showing symptoms of the deadly disease on Tuesday.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Thot Dogo, said the patient has been transferred to an isolation unit of the facility while blood samples have been taken and sent to Lagos for testing and analysis.

He disclosed that the Kaduna State government has provided protective gears to medical personnel giving care to the patient.

So far, only Lagos and Rivers States have recorded confirmed cases of the disease currently ravaging West Africa. Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone have been worst hit by the virus that the WHO says has killed more then 1500 persons.
