June 23, (THEWILL) – A raging inferno has engulfed the headquarters of Christ Embassy Church located in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State, destroying the massive edifice.
The church headed by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome caught fire on Sunday morning.
The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), Margret Adeseye, who confirmed the incident, said the fire has been brought under control.
Adeseye said the fire impacted the main auditorium of the church, adding that it escalated because the church’s fire service thought it could handle the situation without recourse to the Lagos fire service.
She said the cause of the fire could not be ascertained at the moment until after proper investigation.
The area has been cordoned off by the police to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
