BEVERLY HILLS, May 26, (THEWILL) – There has been a Wednesday scare at the Real Madrid grounds of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu after a small fire started to throw smoke clouds, which could be seen rising from one of the roofing columns being put in place, as work progressed around the stadium.
The internet was immediately awash with photos and videos captured by eyewitnesses around the area as they shared it on different social media platforms. Fortunately, firefighters reacted quickly to the incident to bring it under control and avert a disaster.
The famous venue and stomping grounds of La Liga giants, Real Madrid, in Spain’s capital, is currently undergoing a £700m redevelopment. The Zinedine Zidane-led team have been playing their home fixtures at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium after work began to improve the Bernabeu and bring the 73-year-old ground up to the standard of the continent’s elite stadia.
