BEVERLY HILLS, December 03, (THEWILL) – The death of Argentine football icon, Diego Armando Maradona, last week left the football world shocked and saddened. In his memory, some acts of commemoration and immortalisation have begun like the process to rename the San Paolo Napoli Stadium after the legend.
The FIFA Museum has decided to also commemorate the career of arguably one of the best footballers of all time.
The Museum has created a mini pop-up exhibition that will afford visitors to the museum the opportunity to cherish the life of El Pibo de Oro, “The Golden Boy”, as Maradona was affectionately known.
The exhibition has on display a variety of objects marking significant moments in Maradona’s unique story. An example is the jersey he wore when he scored his first two goals for the Argentinian senior national team in a preparation match on 9 May 1979. His first competitive international goal would come a month later.
Also on display is the official match report from the famous quarter-final at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico against England. Visitors will be seeing it alongside an original ticket for the 1986 World Cup Final wherein Maradona became a World Champion.
All these objects are accompanied by a touch screen monitor that allows visitors to relive Maradona’s most iconic goals, his most memorable tricks and much more.
The mini pop-up exhibition is open to all visitors to the FIFA Museum in Zurich with immediate effect and until further notice.
