October 2, (THEWILL) – For the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Nigerian star Sunday Oliseh will collaborate with Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klinsmann as part of a team of technical experts.
Prior to the continental tournament scheduled for the Gulf nation later this year, the 48-year-old was appointed for the role by FIFA to join a panel of technical specialists chaired by former Arsenal manager Wenger and iconic German forward Jurgen Klinsmann.
As THEWILL reported, Oliseh resigned as the head coach of German Regionalliga outfit SV Straelen after a string of poor results and this appointment comes exactly one month after that resignation. The Super Eagles legend previously played for prestigious European clubs such as Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, and Juventus.
He took to Twitter to announce his new position, posting: “Extremely honoured to have been appointed by Fifa as a Technical Expert for the Fifa World Cup in Qatar. In the privileged company of “Sir” Arsene Wenger, Jurgen Klinsmann and three others. Work started last night. Qatar 2022 is looking great and ready.”
Nigerians will be consoled with his participation in Qatar because Super Eagles will not be competing after Ghana denied them a ticket due to the away goals rule. The African contingents to the football extravaganza include Senegal, Cameroon, Tunisia, and Morocco.
