FG Inaugurates NDDC Governing Board

January 04, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government, on Wednesday, inaugurated the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, inaugurated the Board on behalf of the President at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

Speaking during the inauguration, Mustapha urged the members of the board to be above board.

On her part, Minister of State, Niger-Delta Affairs, Mrs Sharon Ikeazu, urged the new board to work towards restoring hope to the people of the region.

President Muhammadu Buhari, in accordance with the NDDC (Establishment) Act, 2008, had in October 2022, sent the list of nominees to form the Governing Board of the Commission to the Senate for confirmation.

While the Board is chaired by Lauretta Onochie, other members include Dimgba Erugba, state representative (Abia, South East); Dr Ene Wilcox (Akwa Ibom, state representative, South-South); Dr Pius Odudu (Edo, South-South); Gbenga Odegba (Ondo, South West) and Anthony Ekene (Imo, South East).

Others are Onyekachi Dimgba (Rivers, South-South); Alhaji Mohammed Kabiru Abubakar (zonal representative, Nasarawa); Prof. Tallen Mamma, (North East representative, Adamawa); Sodique Sani (North West, zonal representative); Retired General Charles Ehigie Airhiavbere (Executive Director of Finance) and Charles Ogunmola (Executive Director Project, South West).

The lawmakers, on December 20, 2022, confirmed the nominees except Dr Pius Odudu (Edo) and Engineer Anthony Ekenne (Imo), over failure to appear before the Senate screening.
