September 23, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has established a disaster relief fund to respond to emergencies, including flooding, as part of efforts to strengthen the nation’s ability to respond effectively to climate-related disasters.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, who disclosed this, emphasised the importance of pooling funds together from various sectors and preparedness to address emergency disaster situations.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu, Edun said the council passed the Economic Stabilisation Bill, largely based on the recommendations of the Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee.

He explained that the bill is aimed at implementing the committee’s recommendations, including proposed amendments to the Companies Income Tax.

On his part, the Minister of Environment, Joseph Ustev, said the Federal Government has set up a committee to assess all dams in the country.
