SAN FRANCISCO, June 23, (THEWILL) – No fewer than fifteen (15) persons were killed Tuesday morning with 26 others injured as a female suicide bomber rocked a market in Nannawaji village of Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The attack came a day after two female bombers rocked the popular Baga Fish Market in Maiduguri, Borno State, killing at least 12 persons. The attack is also the first in Yobe State since the beginning of the Muslims Ramadan fasting.
Giving an account of the blast, a local resident, Kashim Ishaq, told THEWILL that he counted 15 corpses when they were scampering for safety. He added that there could be more dead people from the attack.
Though no confirmation of the attack had been made by security forces when filing this report, the Medical Director of the Special Hospital, Dr. Garba Fika, confirmed that 26 injured victims were brought to the hospital and were being treated.
He added that three of the victims had been taken to the theatre for various operations while three or four others may be referred to hospitals in Nguru and Azare in Bauchi State or the Aminu Kano Hospital in Kano.
